I have forgotten about the stack of lonely unread books that are waiting for me to devour as soon as finals are done. While looking through my bookshelf on the top shelf where I keep my favorites, I had the sudden urge to start reading one of my all-time favorite books, "A Prayer for Owen Meany" by John Irving. Irving has written many, many novels. So if you get the chance to read this book and want more of his writing, do not worry, he has many more novels for you.
If you do have the time to pick up a copy of Owen Meany and want more, you can rent the movie "Simon Birch". I didn't understand why the movie was exactly like the book but under a different name until I found my answer here. Apparently John Irving didn't think that this book would be able to turn into a movie so he sold the screen rights to it under the condition that it be released by a different name than his book. The boy they found to play Owen is quite adorable.
